Whole Heart

This morning on the train I was thinking about how I could incorporate the words "whole heart" into a praise song. At the same time I was flicking through the Psalms in my Gideon's Bible.
That's when I happened to land on Psalm 138. The first verse read: "I will praise you with my whole heart".
WHOA.
The very same words I had in mind at that very moment! Like…how???
But I just love love love it when things like this happen!
God knows exactly what I'm thinking about at every moment. That's a fact that brings incredible comfort and at the same time strikes the fear of God to the heart.

Psalm 138 really spoke to me this morning. Verse 3b "…made me bold with strength in my soul" perfectly captured the way I felt yesterday after hearing the open-air preacher ~ even using the same word "bold"! Amazing!
I also love the word "revive" in verse 7:
"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
You will stretch out Your hand
Against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me." Psalm 138:7

What a beautiful thing! God will revive me indeed. It's very easy to get physically tired or emotionally drained in your studies, at work, at home, over big things, over the little things. But God revives!

The final verse is powerful.
"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands." Psalm 138:8

I went on to read Psalm 139. It's about God's Perfect Knowledge of Man.
God knows my whole heart. How I long to know His!

PS. Gotta love New King James Version! ;)
